Answers to Common Pool Service Questions
Below are answers to questions we regularly receive about pool resurfacing, repairs, and warranties. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to reach out.
How Long Does a Pool Resurfacing Project Take?
The timeline for a pool resurfacing project depends on the overall scope of work involved. On average, most projects are completed within 1–2 weeks.
Each project is assigned a dedicated foreman for every phase, ensuring proper oversight, quality control, and consistent communication between our team and you, the client. This structured approach allows for smooth transitions from preparation to installation and final detailing.
For larger or more complex remodels, additional time may be required to account for structural modifications, necessary curing periods, inspections, and weather conditions. Temperature, humidity, and wind can directly impact certain installation phases, particularly interior surface applications.
Once the scope of work is approved, we provide an estimated completion timeline. While we work diligently to stay on schedule, timelines may be adjusted if weather conditions could compromise the quality of installation. Any changes are always clearly communicated to ensure transparency throughout the project.
Our priority is never speed over quality — it is delivering a properly installed finish built for long-term performance.
How Soon After a New Interior Surface Is Installed Can I Use My Pool or Spa?
We typically recommend waiting 15–20 days before using your pool or spa after a new interior surface has been installed.
This waiting period allows the material to properly cure and receive the necessary chemical treatment and startup care performed by your pool maintenance specialist. The initial startup phase is critical to ensuring proper hydration of the surface, balanced water chemistry, and long-term durability.
Following the recommended curing and startup guidelines helps protect your investment and promotes optimal performance, appearance, and longevity of the new finish.
When Can I Heat My Pool or Spa After Resurfacing?
We recommend waiting at least 30 days from the initial fill date before turning on your pool or spa heater.
During the first 30 days, the new interior surface is in its curing phase. This period allows the material to properly hydrate, strengthen, and stabilize while receiving the appropriate chemical introduction and startup treatment.
Heating the water too early can interfere with this curing process. Elevated temperatures may accelerate chemical reactions within the surface, which can lead to increased roughness, discoloration, or premature surface issues. In simple terms, turning on the heater too soon can “over-cure” or damage the material before it has properly set.
Allowing the full curing period ensures the finish settles correctly and performs as intended for long-term durability and appearance.
If you are unsure about when it is safe to activate your heater, we are always available to guide you through the process.
Do You Offer Warranties on the Work You Provide?
Yes. We confidently stand behind every project completed by Cali Pool Plastering Inc.
Because all work is performed in-house by our specialized crews — not subcontracted to outside or low-cost labor — we maintain direct quality control over every phase of construction. We conduct routine inspections, internal quality checks, and scheduled client meetings to ensure each portion of the project is completed to the highest standard possible.
This level of oversight and accountability allows us to offer comprehensive warranties within the applicable terms of each specific scope of work.
We are meticulous in our approach and consistently strive for excellence in both craftsmanship and communication. All interior finishes are hand-troweled by experienced professionals using manufacturer-recommended methods and industry best practices. While hand application involves true craftsmanship rather than automated systems, we strictly follow proper installation procedures to ensure durability and long-term performance.
Equipment & Lighting Installations
For pool equipment and lighting fixtures, we warranty the labor associated with installation. However, if a component or part is found to be defective, it is important to contact the manufacturer directly. Most manufacturers provide their own product warranties and will dispatch a representative or authorize service to address defective parts under their coverage terms.
We are always willing to assist in guiding you through that process, but manufacturer defects fall under the product manufacturer’s warranty rather than installation labor.
Warranty Communication Process
Because we are consistently active on job sites and directly involved with our clients, there may be times when we are unable to respond immediately. For warranty-related concerns, we provide a dedicated Warranty Request Form on our website. Once submitted, a team member will contact you to schedule a date for the owner of Cali Pool Plastering Inc. to personally inspect the matter.
You may submit your warranty request using the form below:

Warranty details vary depending on the type of work and materials selected and will always be clearly outlined in your project agreement.
Our goal is simple: deliver a product we are proud to stand behind — and support it long after completion.
Do You Offer New Pool and/or Spa Construction?
At this time, we have chosen to focus exclusively on what we do best — pool and spa resurfacing, existing material demolition and haul-away, tile installation, structural modifications, and decking additions. Our specialization allows us to dedicate our full attention to mastering these phases and delivering the highest level of quality and craftsmanship.
While we do not directly perform new pool or spa construction, we work closely with a trusted company that specializes solely in landscape design and new pool construction. We confidently recommend them for projects of that caliber.
Much like our own company, they prioritize clear communication, thorough inspections, and quality-driven workmanship to ensure your project is handled with professionalism from start to finish.
If you are considering new construction, we are more than happy to connect you with the appropriate team and remain involved where our expertise may be needed.
What Areas Do You Service?
We are primarily based in Las Vegas, Nevada, and proudly serve the greater Las Vegas Valley and surrounding communities.
While Southern Nevada is our home base, we have also traveled to more distant locations to provide our expertise in pool and spa resurfacing, material installations, and structural inspections. When appropriate, we are open to discussing projects outside our immediate service area depending on scope and scheduling availability.
If you are located outside of Las Vegas and are interested in working with us, please feel free to fill out our contact form. A team member will reach out to review your project details and determine how we can best assist you.
We look forward to seeing how we can help bring your project to life.
If I Have Questions During Each Phase, Is There a Supervisor I Can Speak To?
Absolutely.
Every phase of your project is assigned a dedicated foreman who is present on-site to oversee the work, conduct continuous quality checks, and ensure each step is performed to the highest standard possible. Our foremen are experienced and able to clearly explain what is being done, why it is necessary, and how it contributes to the overall longevity and performance of your project.
In addition to on-site supervision, the owners of Cali Pool Plastering Inc. remain actively involved throughout the process. We consistently oversee, inspect, and quality-check each phase to ensure everything meets our standards. You are always welcome to contact us directly, as we fully stand behind every project we complete.
We strive to remain competitive within the market; however, we do not compromise quality by using inexpensive materials, improper mixes, or cutting corners during demolition and preparation. Proper surface preparation and material selection are critical for long-term adhesion and durability. Because we prioritize correct demolition methods, proper bonding techniques, and high-quality materials, this may be reflected in our pricing — as well as in our level of communication and oversight.
Our commitment to doing things correctly allows us to confidently honor our warranties and truly stand behind our work. We do not rely on shortcuts or “cheap” methods. Instead, we rely on experience, craftsmanship, and accountability to ensure every client receives a finished product built to last.
What Happens After Material Installation Day?
Once the interior finish has been properly installed by Cali Pool Plastering Inc., the application portion of our scope of work is officially complete unless otherwise stated in your contract.
Immediately following installation, we begin filling the pool using a garden hose provided by the homeowner. You will be notified once the filling process has started. It is important to monitor the water level during this time. When the water reaches approximately halfway up the tile line, the hose should be transferred to the spa (if applicable) to help prevent streaking or uneven hydration during the fill process.
After the pool has completely filled, it is strongly recommended that a professional pool maintenance provider perform a startup service. The startup phase is critical for proper chemical introduction, surface brushing, and water balancing during the curing period of the new interior finish.
If you do not currently have a pool service provider, we are happy to recommend companies we have previously worked with and can confidently refer. However, please note that we are not affiliated with these companies beyond a professional courtesy recommendation. All agreements, scheduling, payments, and service responsibilities remain strictly between the homeowner and the maintenance provider.
Cali Pool Plastering Inc. is not a pool maintenance company and does not perform startup services, manage chemical treatments, or assume responsibility for post-fill maintenance. This is clearly outlined in our contract for the homeowner’s understanding.
Proper startup care plays a significant role in the longevity, appearance, and performance of your new finish, and we strongly encourage homeowners to engage an experienced pool professional during this critical phase.

When Can I Expect My Quote After the Initial Estimate Meeting?
Please allow 3–5 business days from the date of your estimate meeting to receive your proposal.
We take the time to prepare a detailed and comprehensive breakdown of the recommended scope of work so you clearly understand what to expect throughout the project. Each proposal outlines the necessary steps, materials, and phases required to complete the work properly.
While we strive to remain competitive within the market, our pricing reflects proper preparation, quality materials, and professional installation standards.
Our goal is to provide a clear, thorough proposal — not a rushed estimate — so you can make an informed decision with confidence.
